Corvallis, Oregon – Since 1993
Graand Kinetic Challenge
For the fun of it!
May 17–18, 2026
Race starts in:
What is this beautiful madness?
The Graand Kinetic Challenge is Corvallis’ annual celebration of human-powered, all-terrain art. Teams build wild contraptions that must travel over roads, sand, mud, and even float down the Willamette River!
Part engineering marvel, part rolling sculpture, and 100% Oregon weird, these kinetic creations compete for glory, not speed. It’s three days of creative chaos where art meets athletics and everyone wins.

THE GAUNTLET
5 miles. 4 terrains. Infinite possibilities for chaos.
🏞️
The Grasslands
Start strong on smooth terrain. Build speed while you can – you’ll need the momentum!
🏖️
Sand Trap Canyon
Where dreams of speed go to die. Deep sand tests your engineering – and your patience.
💩
The Mud Pit
Legendary. Infamous. Unavoidable. Bring spare clothes and abandon hope.
🌊
Willamette Float
Hope your contraption floats! The river decides who makes it to the finish.
Pro tip: Past winners have completed the course in everything from shopping carts to cardboard tanks. The only limit is your imagination (and physics).
